“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers... shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Romans 8:38-39 KJV)
Charlie Jenkins had always taken pride in his pickup truck. It wasn’t new, but it was reliable—or so he thought.
One morning, headed to work down a back road in the middle of a cold drizzle, Charlie’s truck sputtered, coughed, and rolled to a stop. He tried the key again and again, but all he got was silence and the low whine of a dying battery.
Frustrated, he called the dealership.
"Sir," the receptionist said kindly, "your warranty expired last year. There's nothing we can do without charging you."
Charlie hung up, sighing. He looked at the cracked windshield, the rusted fender, and the stack of bills already waiting at home. “Nothing’s guaranteed anymore,” he muttered.
A week later, Charlie sat in church, still grumbling about the money it cost to tow and fix the truck. The pastor stepped up and smiled.
“Some of y’all treat your salvation like a car warranty,” he said. “You think it has an expiration date. That it’s voided if you mess up too bad or miss a service check.”
Charlie leaned forward, curious.
“But the grace of God isn’t like some dealership contract. It’s a lifetime guarantee. It doesn’t expire. It doesn’t run out. It doesn’t depend on how well you perform. It’s been paid in full, and it covers you forever.”
Charlie sat back in his pew, stunned. The words sank deep.
He thought about all the ways he’d failed lately—the temper, the doubt, the fear. And yet… God hadn’t canceled him. Hadn’t revoked His love. Hadn’t said, “Sorry, you’re on your own now.”
No, the cross was proof: Jesus signed that warranty with His blood. And it covered everything.
Reflection:
Earthly warranties expire. Contracts fall through. Promises break. But God’s love doesn’t.
When life breaks down and your faith feels weak, you can still rest in the assurance that your salvation isn’t based on performance—it’s based on a promise. One that can not be voided or revoked.
Prayer:
"Lord, thank You that Your grace doesn’t expire. When I fail, You forgive. When I wander, You pursue. Help me to trust in Your promise and walk in the freedom of Your unbreakable love. Amen."
Today’s Challenge:
Think about areas in your life where you’ve felt “disqualified” or “out of warranty” with God. Take a moment to thank Him for covering you anyway—and walk today with the confidence of someone fully secured in His grace.
